What’s in Season – July

Yarrow (Achillea) is one of the best perennials for early summer. They are tough, reliable, vigorous, long flowering and come in a rainbow of shades ready to add a splash of colour to any scheme. They are a stalwart of the border, great mixed with other plants their flat plates of tiny flowers form a satisfying contrast to soft vertical grasses. This one is likely to be Achillea ‘Moonshine’ a lemon-yellow variety which is not too tall and will happily spread into an ever large patch if it has the chance. Always on hand, not fussy about soil types, a great plant for any sunny spot.
